How Signal uses your Instagram data
When you connect an Instagram professional account, Instagram asks you to approve four permissions. Here is what each one lets you do in Signal, in plain terms.

Your account and the posts that tag you instagram_business_basic
What it lets you do in Signal
- See every post and Story that tags your account in Mentions, with the creator attached.
- See your own posts and Stories in Your content.
- Organise mentions into collections and campaigns and request usage rights from a creator.
What Signal reads. Your account's profile and your own posts, plus the public posts and Stories that tag you.

What it lets you do in Signal
- Read your Instagram DMs in Messages and reply from Signal.
- See who you are talking to: their username, picture and follower count when Instagram shares it.
What Signal reads. Your account's conversations. Replies are sent only when a team member writes and sends one.
Comments on your posts instagram_business_manage_comments
What it lets you do in Signal
- See the comments on your own posts, Reels and live videos in Your content.
- Reply to, hide, unhide or delete a comment without leaving Signal.

What it lets you do in Signal
- See your followers, reach, views, profile visits and engagement on Overview and Reports.
- See who your audience is on Audience.
- See how each post and Story performed in Your content, and watch trends over time.
What Signal reads. Your own account's insights, saved daily so history builds up.
Deleting it
- Disconnect the account in Settings › Connected accounts and everything imported through it is deleted.
- Remove Signal inside Instagram (Settings › Apps and websites) and Signal is told, drops its access and deletes the data. Meta’s deletion requests get a confirmation code you can check at the deletion status page.
- Delete your workspace and everything goes.
What Signal never does
- Post, comment, message, follow or like on your behalf. A person on your team does every one of those by hand.
- Read anyone's private messages, private posts or non-public profile.
- Sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything except showing your brand its own activity.
- Store your Instagram password. You sign in on Instagram's own screen.
