How Signal uses your Instagram data
When you connect an Instagram professional account, Instagram asks you to approve four permissions. Here is what each one lets you do in Signal, in plain terms.

Your account and the posts that tag you instagram_business_basic
What it lets you do in Signal
- See available posts, Stories and comments that tag or mention your account in Mentions, with the creator attached.
- See your own posts and Stories in Your content.
- Organise mentions into collections and campaigns and request usage rights from a creator.
What Signal reads. Your account's profile and your own posts, plus the public posts and Stories that tag you.

What it lets you do in Signal
- Read your Instagram DMs in Messages and reply from Signal.
- See who you are talking to: their username, picture and follower count when Instagram shares it.
What Signal reads. Your account's available conversations, including history. Replies and rights requests are sent on instructions from your team or an integration you authorize.
Comments on your posts instagram_business_manage_comments
What it lets you do in Signal
- See the comments on your own posts, Reels and live videos in Your content.
- Reply to, hide or unhide a comment without leaving Signal.
What Signal reads. Comments on your own posts. Replies and moderation actions follow instructions from your team or an integration you authorize.

- See your followers, reach, views, profile visits and engagement on Overview and Reports.
- See who your audience is on Audience.
- See how each post and Story performed in Your content, and watch trends over time.
What Signal reads. Your own account's insights, saved daily so history builds up.
Access and privacy requests
- Disconnect the account in Settings › Connected accounts to stop collection and revoke the connection. Stored records, media and history are retained.
- Remove Signal inside Instagram (Settings › Apps and websites) to revoke access. Deauthorization is separate from a data deletion request. When Meta sends a signed deletion request, Signal records it for manual review and returns a confirmation code. This does not confirm erasure. Check the request status page.
- Request personal-data deletion or workspace closure by writing to [email protected], including if you are a creator without a Signal account. See the deletion instructions and retention limits for scope, archives and requests that need separate handling.
What Signal never does
- Access messages, posts or profile information outside the access your connected account and approved permissions provide.
- Send messages or moderate comments without an instruction from your team or an authorized integration.
- Sell Platform Data, share it for behavioral advertising or use it for an unrelated customer or purpose.
- Store your Instagram password. You sign in on Instagram's own screen.
